Lito Inso Photography
In Cebu’s photography world, the name Lito Inso now rings a bell. Dubbed as one of Cebu’s fastest-rising wedding photography masters (i.e., Cebu-Sugbo online photo community. Istorya.Net, etc.), Lito’s work of visual art has caught a lot of attention and interest from brides to hopeless romantics and generally, people who are in love and appreciate love and photography in its truest essence. What’s impressive is that these acclaimed titles did not spring forth from the talent himself but from those who have recognized his work as something worth a second look, a third, tenth or perhaps an nth look. The name Lito Inso has indeed been a significant addition to Cebu’s list of renowned photography talents, gaining Cebu more niches to be at par with acclaimed photography talent centers rumored primarily to be somewhere in the cities Manila and Davao.
It is amusing to note that Lito has a unique background. He did not study photography nor did he p lan to pursue in the business of photography, as opposed to most assumptions. His passion for this art started out as a hobby, which earned him the humble start of being a photojournalist in his highschool paper. After highschool however, he was able to put this hobby aside to focus on college as a Computer student at the University of San Carlos and his then-sideline-now-major-business of computer sales and services, Insotec Computers, which he founded, moulded and managed to be one of Cebu City’s leading computer businesses. He did all these at a young age, of which most of his clients would be surprised to know when they see his young face and equally young and vivacious personality.
With the influence of his best friend, he was able to buy his first Olympus SLR camera not so long ago and started out with shooting at the sidelines in one Davao wedding. He then offered to cover his cousin’s wedding where he posted some pictures at Flickr.com, which gained a lot of interest and referrals. With constant research online of his masters in the photography world, practice, a lot of criticisms toppled over a lot of inspiration, determination, a Lito Sy workshop, all the rest are a part of his humble beginnings. The Olympus was then changed to a Canon EOS 350D, and a rain of other camera equipment after that, including a Canon EOS 1D Mark III, which also gave him the teased title, “Gearhead”. Gearhead he may be, but this young talent believes in the joke-now-a-serious-personal saying, “The Indian, may he be best with arrows, is always better than the arrows”.
Lito is indeed popular with non-traditional candid shots. His photos speak of the person that he is. One could say that he started out as a talented young boy who was just having fun. And if you do know him, you could say that indeed, he is still that young boy, but with much more amazing talent. He claims to be inspired by his familial orientation to value relationships and moments, his family, friends, his photography masters, and his girlfriend. When dealing with Lito himself, most of you will agree with me that his talent, combined with his young, infectious yet comfortable personality can be summarized to the following: humble, professional, versatile, humorous, associative, and heartfelt.
Lito brings another facet to the world of wedding photography as he lives to his photo business tagline, “Capturing moments, behind moments….” This tagline sprung forth from his romance with portrait journalism and photo journalism—that in each wedding, in each momentous event, there are tidbits of moments, pieces of immortality, waiting to be captured, so that the whole essence of the moment will be frozen in eternity through photography.
Like ripples in the ocean caused by one tiny pebble, the name of Lito Chiu Inso started as a whisper and has slowly been caught, talked about and recognized as an added pride to the Cebuano community and the Filipino photography community at large.
